Alexandros Procopiou

Alexandros was born and grew up in London. From around six years of age, he regularly attended the chanter stands at both the Church of St. Andrews in Kentish Town and The Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Wood Green, North London.

As a young boy, he enrolled at the Archdiocesan School of Byzantine Music in London soon after its establishment and was subsequently accepted in the adult class under the direction of Father Joseph Paliouras. Alexandros graduated from the school in 1996 with the Diploma of Chanter.

He joined the chanters at The Twelve Apostles Church in September 1999 and was elevated as Right Hand Chanter (Protopsaltis) in 2006.

In the year 2000, Alexandros visited the Great Church in Constantinople as part of the millennium celebrations hosted by the Patriarchate and has been a frequent visitor ever since.

He has sung on several occasions with the world-famous CMK choir in Athens, Constantinople, Drama, London, Mount Athos and Thessaloniki. He has appeared on several programmes including "Anesperon Fos" (Hellenic TV), "From the Hymnology of Our Church" (LGR) and the 4E channel.

Alexandros produced a joint CD and digital album called "Byzantine Musical Anthology" (2010) and is currently working on the publication of a book entitled "An Harmonious Melody of Theology".

He holds a degree in Computer Engineering and resides in London with his wife and children.
